  • I was invited to Beans & Grills Lounge as a reviewer last week, and I went at around 4 PM. My father was with me. We asked them to serve us whatever they believed their best items were, (I could've tried to judge the calibre of the restaurant on whether what they think they're good at is actually any good or not), but they seemed fairly confident and insisted I order, especially when I asked specifically what was good in starters and soup. We ended up ordering Crispy Tempura Fried Shrimp and a Hot and Sour Soup. I couldn't decide on the entrée and a member of the board of directors of the restaurant happened to be present and he offered a recommendation. I didn't particularly feel like having a Beef steak anyway so I mentioned that I was leaning towards ordering something from the grill, and he recommended that I ask them to make the White Mushroom steak in chicken. So I did. We only ordered one, because it was in between meal times (I made sure I wasn't starving when I arrived so I could objectively gauge the quality and taste of the food) and we could share. However, when the meal arrived they also set an Italian steak (also in chicken) in front of my dad. In drinks, my dad ordered a cold coffee, and I ordered a Grapefruit Lemon Ginger. Now let's get to the actual review. Food: The crispy tempura fried shrimp arrived piping hot and they lived up to their name. The crisp was divine. The hot and sour soup was good, too. I noticed that they'd made their soup in a very balanced way, and it wasn't extremely spicy or anything. They placed sauces on the side so we could alter the spice level and sourness to our taste. I personally do like chilli and spice, so I added a bit of the sauces. The consistency was balanced too, it wasn't watery but they hadn't gone overboard with the cornflour as some restaurants tend to do. I admit that sometimes thick soup can taste nice, but as it cools down a bit it becomes jelly-like and icky. We didn't wait for the soup to go cold, but it didn't look like it would have that issue. Then the steaks arrived. I got the White Mushroom and my dad got Italian, but we cut chunks off ours and gave it to each other so we could comment on both. The Italian steak was topped with cheese and olives and tomatoes etc. and gave off the look of a pizza (it was beautiful, that was a compliment, I love pizza). It was delicious. The White Mushroom steak was great too. I've had it before at another place and their were barely any mushroom, but here there were plenty. The steak was just as it should be. But ofcourse white sauce isn't spicy and I'd tried the Italian, so I personally liked the Italian one better. The best part was their serving size. When we actually cut into it deeply, we realized that it wasn't one slab of chicken each. Each serving had TWO. Maybe the piece was thinner than other restaurants', but if it was, it could've only been very slightly thinner. So basically the serving of steak was almost double that of what I've had at other restaurants. The sides were veggies and fries. Now, usually the veggies on the side are bland, and although I'm not the kind of person who doesn't like veggies, I usually eat the bland ones that restaurants serve with steaks first, to get them out of the way. At Beans & Grills, I could actually eat it as a side, with my steak. The vegetables weren't masalaydaar or anything, but they weren't completely bland. There was a touch of flavour, that I really liked. It wasn't heavy, and it went with the meal nicely. The french fries were hot and crispy and not burnt or undercooked, and that's all I could ever ask from french fries. The dishes were sizzling enticingly when they arrived and they continued to sizzle as we started to dig in. In fact, I think before we even tried it, my father declared, "Don't need to market the food, just market the sizzle." (Short video of my steak attached. If you listen closely, you can hear it sizzling.) Honestly the only slight issue I had was with the onion bed of the steak, which is sad, because it's usually one of my favorite parts. For some reason, despite the sizzle, the onion bed under the veggies was still raw, and under the steak, most of it was overdone. I was craving that slightly caramelized crisp onion goodness but I couldn't find it. However, it was fine in the other steak, so I'm hopeful it was a one time thing, though I did mention it to the staff when they asked for feedback. I've been thinking about this a lot and maybe if they didn't put the onion bed under the sides and kept it only under the steak, like in most restaurants, it would cook properly, and maybe the pieces were cut a bit smaller/ thinner than they should've been, which caused the overcooked bits. I guess most people wouldn't over think the onion bed though, I know people that leave it anyway. When it came to drinks, the cold coffee was good, and there wasn't anything to complain about, and I'm not going to do an in-depth analysis, it was just cold coffee, and it was as it should've been, and I only tasted it. My drink (Grapefruit, Lemon and Ginger), sadly didn't have the taste of grapefruit at all, which is probably because it has a strong bitter taste that most people don't like (but I have developed a taste for), so they probably tried to not let that taste be dominant. But I didn't complain, because even though I couldn't taste grapefruit, the drink itseld was DELICIOUS. I haven't had a drink with a kick of ginger before and I was surprised I liked it. I only ordered it because I wanted to try something new and different and I was very pleased. I mean Mint Margheritas are great but they're everywhere, and even Nestlé came out with a Fruita Vitals flavour for it. So I'm happy that I found a new drink flavour that's refreshing, and is like a special treat because it isn't all over the place. (The picture attached is after I'd had a few sips.) Ambience: The ambience was comfortable. With the walls and furniture they went for mostly a dark vibe, in greys, blacks, and dark browns, but they threw in friendly splashes of colour in the form of cushions, paintings, and other bits of décor. The music wasn't too loud or intrusive so I didn't really pay attention to it that much, it was nice on the whole, and when I tried to listen to it, they were actually playing good songs (Any Billie Jean fans?). Service: The staff was courteous, even before I told them I was there for the review. As soon as we entered, a smiling waiter led us to a table. They were attentive, and asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything. When I arrived there was a large group of people eating at another table, and when they were paying the bill, getting up, and leaving, I observed them to see if they seemed to be grumbling as people tend to be after they pay for a bad experience, but they seemed fine. Their prices aren't insanely high, but the food's definitely not a steal either. The prices are comparable to most restaurants that are serving similar items. Overall I enjoyed my experience. It is however, a fairly new establishment (it's been less than 3 weeks, since it opened, I believe), and therefore they seem open to receiving constructive feedback, which I think is great, and very important for a restaurant, especially in Islamabad, since the food scene of the city is still developing. P.S I loved the graphics on their menus and place mats. The place mats are paper and I was tempted to colour them in. I left a suggestion that they keep colors to keep kids (and people like me) busy ????. DISCLAIMER: The meal was on the house, as I was there to review it, but this review itself is not paid. They asked me for feedback and for a written review, and did not try to influence the review, or suggest that I write false praises. This review is honest, and based on my experience and thoughts on the restaurant. You can follow me on my blog at www.wannabejannati.wordpress.com

  • four of us friends went to Beans and Grills Lounge for aftari today .... as they were offering a buy one get one ... but trust me we had the worst experience ever... aftari was fine "nothing special" but cant explain how bad the dinner was... it was jam packed ... still the food was pathetic... there were only two waiters attending all the tables outside... quite a few items were missing in the buffet that was served outside... served a single glass of juice (though they mentioned two in menu) )they gave us an unsealed water bottle we realized it later as we were quite thirsty ... when we talked to owner he said " main khd keh raha hun khana bakwas he" as others were also complaining he deducted 456 rs from our bill but it was a total waste of money and time.

  • Tried the Beans & Grills lounge today and order their poached eggs. Usually poached eggs aren't something I would order for breakfast however on their menu what had intrigued me to order it was the fact that it'll be served with "garlic and cheese toast sprinkled with herbs, sundried tomatoes and greens" However what I got was poached eggs on a plain piece of toast, some lettuce, sausage, hash browns and a plain tomato. Figured it was easily something I could make at home because I was looking forward to actually trying it on this supposed garlic toast. Don't advertise it if I won't be receiving it ????

  • Beans & Grills Lounge F-11 New eatery opened in F-11, so decided to give a try. The pizza looked promising but decided to have grilled chicken herb sauce. It was a disaster, the chicken was hard and i had to actually wrestle with it in order to cut it and chewing it was a whole different ball game. Complained and they brought in a fresh helping and it was just as bad. Was hungry so decided against waiting anymore; ate the rubber chicken. The rest of the order, nachos were okay while the mint margarita was good. Avoid the grilled chicken at all cost!! Ambience: 3/5 Food:1/5 Bang for the buck: 2/5

  • Uploading this so you can hear the sizzles. This steak is by Beans and Grills Lounge situated right next to F-11's Chaye Khana. I have gone their thrice mainly because they used to serve sheesha (not anymore though) however, the food has been pretty nice too. This video doesn't show the other two items we had. It was a deal for 1100 or 1200 I believe where you could get 1. Your choice of Soup 2. Your choice of appetizers 3. Any Steak or Chicken main course. Pretty good right? Right. Sad to see that these hidden eateries don't get much traffic despite of having great service. Hope this one stays in the scene.

  • To all the people out there, for God sake man its the month of ramzan, stop lying and posting fake reviews. I went to chayee khana for this and we four had to pay 3000 for 4 of these platters. Honestly it wasn't worth it. The other day i went to ranchers. Honestly the iftari platter was not eatable. It was a simple tasteless sharbat that was served in the start. The pakoras, samosas and everything mentioned in their platter was cold. It was not eatable. Honestly it wasnt. The burger was better which you can buy anyway. I found this chayee khana platter to me was costly as hell. How much did they charge andd what they served is all infront of you. Lately i went to haleem ghar for their falooda. Bekar tha yar kasam se. I was about to vomit. The icecream tasted like a pure frozen milk and it wasn't eatable at all. One of my friends went to beans and grill. The aftari there was also pathetic. Pls guys stop posting paid, fake and overhyped reviews. You might get a meal from a restaurant lkn dosru ka hazaru ka loss hojata ha.

  • Where: Beans and Grills Lounge (near Chaaye Khana, F-11) What: Beef Supreme Pizza Overall Rating: 6.5/10 Price: Rs. 695 (most probably) Before work drowns me and sleep takes over, let's talk about food ???????? Since I am back in the capital, it's time to meet old friends and catch up and today was one of those days and so I ended up at Beans and Grills Lounge for dinner! (It's been on my to-visit list jbtw) Were served with complimentary garlic bread which was gooooood and ordered a Beef Supreme pizza and specifically asked the waiter before ordering if it was thin crust and he said it was and well, it was not quite. Should have gone for the flatbread option ???? Anyhoo, the crust was a hybrid between the crusts of a bakery (it had that sweet taste) and a homemade crust (it had that crisp softness *if that's a thing* ????) The topping included chicken pieces even though it was beef supreme but oh well. Among other things were beef chunks, beef sausages and some pepperoni here and there with olives, mushrooms and finely chopped capsicum and onions. The whole pizza had a sweet taste in the background and it was probably because of the crust and the tomato sauce. Ample mozzarella; though I have a feeling they used some cream cheese on the base (I may or may not be wrong) and not complaining because the cheesy flavour was good and this is something I do when I make pizza ???? Issues: too sweet (even for someone who enjoys pineapple on pizza ????), too much meat (though this may be the selling point for most here :P) and bakery like crust. Despite that, this wasn't an unpleasant experience though I may never order their pizza again and in all fairness I could only eat one slice after a whole day of no food so ???? (just not my type) If you're craving a pizza with homely taste, go for it. The bill was paid by my friend so I don't know the exact total but I think this cost Rs. 695 according to the menu (not sure whether inclusive or exclusive of tax) and it should serve 2-3 people. 4 with my appetite ???? The ambiance is nice and service is okay (a tad slow) Food: 5/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Service: 7/10 Forever in search of good pizza, Admin.
